About this work

A priest kneels with a torch to light the fire on the altar before a statue of Apollo. In front of the statue lie two sacrificial animals, and a large bird flies above them. A group of people, including the King of Troy and his wife, watches. Below the image is a line of Latin text, numbered on the right: 6. The print is part of a series of prints about the Trojan War.
