About this work
Boaz receives at the city gate the sandal of a man who, like Boaz, has the right to buy the land of Ruth and Naomi. The man shows by this that he does not exercise his right. A group of city elders witnesses the purchase and Boaz's promise to marry Ruth. Below the image a reference in Latin to the Biblical text in Ruth 4:4. This print is part of an album.
