About this work
A woman with a flame on her head, possibly personification of religious zeal, sits in an Arcadian landscape and plays a lyre. Around her sit putti engaged in religious lessons. One of them studies the stone tablets, two others read to each other from the Bible. On the ground lie the instruments of Christ's martyrdom. From the sky a dove as a symbol of the Holy Spirit shines on the woman.
