About this work
Minerva receives a young man and leads him towards the personification of God's commandments. Above her flies a putto with a flame on his head and a bell in his hand. At her feet a reading putto leans against a cornucopia and a putto with laurel wreath stands by a globe. To the right of Minerva stands a portrait bust of Hugo Grotius. The scene is crowned by the coat of arms of Utrecht with the surrounding text: Illustra nos sol justitiae. Left and right of it busts of Justinian and Ulpian.
