About this work

King David has recalled Uriah, the husband of Bathsheba, from the war. Uriah kneels, clad in his armor, before him. David urges Uriah to relax and accept the wine and food brought by servants. However, Uriah does not go home to sleep with his wife Bathsheba. Below the image, a Latin reference to the biblical text in 2 Samuel 11:7. This print is part of an album.
