About this work

Bathsheba sits at the right hand of her son, King Solomon, and conveys the request of Solomon's brother Adonijah to him. She asks for Adonijah's hand in marriage to Abishag. Solomon becomes angry and orders Adonijah to be killed. In the background Adonijah is stabbed with a spear. Below the scene a reference in Latin to the Biblical text in 1 Kings 2:19.
