About this work
The Bride of Christ (the Church), kneeling and looking up at the appearance of Christ in a cloud. Above her head is the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove. Blood flows from the wound in Christ's side, falling on the bride via a Bible ('verbum vitae') and the Holy Spirit. Around the bride are nine women with crowns on their heads holding jugs and kindling. In the background, Christ accompanies his bride to the temple, followed by the nine women. On the right is a vineyard. Below the image is a reference in Latin to the Biblical text in Song of Solomon 6:1. This print is part of an album.
