About this work

The jailer of Philippi attempts suicide when he notices that the prison doors are open. He fears that the prisoners have escaped. The apostle Paul and his companion Silas, however, have remained in the cell. Paul subsequently converts the jailer. Below the scene a reference in Latin to the biblical text in Acts 16:27. This print is part of an album.
