About this work

On the left, patriarch Dan, the fifth son of Jacob. He holds the staff of the judges in his hand. In the background, a horse being bitten by a snake, references to Dan as a guardian of justice and as a 'serpent on the road'. On the right, patriarch Gad, the seventh son of Jacob. He stands on a shield and on the ground lies armor. Below the images, a reference in Latin to the Biblical text. This print is part of an album.
