About this work
Ornamental frame with a reference to the Bible text in Matt. 25 in Latin and a five-line text in Latin. The frame is flanked by two female personifications. At the very top Christ knocking on the door. Top left a crane with one leg raised and a stone in its claw as a symbol of vigilance. Top right a nest with hungry young birds. In the frame at the bottom a putto with an hourglass and a skull as vanitas symbols. Title print for a series of seven with the parable of the five wise and five foolish virgins. This print is part of an album.
