About this work

After Christ is taken down from the cross, he is laid on the ground and wrapped in white linen. John removes the crown of thorns from the body, while the three Marys mourn him. Mary Magdalene anoints his feet. The print bears a Latin inscription and is part of a series on the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Christ.
