About this work

Pedestal in the form of a cartouche. On it a medallion with on the front the portrait of Agostino Barbarigo with a stola. On the back a stola and two olive branches. With the text: Purpurae Reduci. The pedestal is flanked by the personifications of Guardianship and Almsgiving. Guardianship sits on the left. She holds her hand on a book on which a scale lies. She covers a sleeping child with her skirt and behind her stands a rooster. On the right stands a woman with a covered face. Also the hands with which she gives alms to two children are covered. On her head an olive wreath and a small burning oil lamp. The print is part of an album.
