About this work
With the help of Truth (Operans Veritatem), the man has defeated Blind Desire (Amor Coecus), depicted as Cupido. He kills him with a spear between the ribs. The shadow figure Lie (Mendacium) also lies defeated on the road. Truth (Veritas) floats through the air and crowns the man with a laurel wreath. In the background, two peacocks and two cranes. Like birds seeking their own kind, truth always seeks those who actively pursue truth. The print has a Latin and a Dutch inscription and is part of a series on the triumph of truth.
