About this work
Saint Christopher (Christophorus) wades across the water with the Christ Child on his shoulders. Various threatening animals are in the water. On the far bank stands a hermit with a lantern, pointing to the resurrected Christ in heaven. On the near bank, a group of people make music and embrace. Behind them, a shipwreck with a winged hourglass.
