About this work

The prophet Elijah has been brought to the king by Obadiah, the steward of King Ahab; the king addresses Elijah with the words: 'Is it you, Elijah? You who have brought trouble upon Israel?'. In response, Elijah explains that the king himself has brought his people into trouble by worshipping false gods. On the right in the background, it can be seen how Obadiah, as soon as he recognized Elijah, bowed before him. Below the image a reference in Latin to the biblical text in 1 Kings 18.
