About this work
The prophet Elijah has been brought to the king by Obadiah, steward of King Ahab; he addresses Elijah with the words: 'Are you he, Elijah? You, who have brought disaster upon Israel?'. Elijah then explains that the king himself has brought his people into disaster by worshipping the wrong gods. In the background on the right, it can be seen how Obadiah, as soon as he recognized Elijah, bowed before him. Below the scene, a line of text in Latin. This print is part of a series of four prints depicting the story of the prophet Elijah.
