About this work

The prophet Elijah has been brought to the king by Obadiah, the steward of King Ahab; the king addresses Elijah with the words: 'Is it you, Elijah, you who have brought trouble upon Israel?'. Elijah then explains that the king himself has brought his people into trouble by worshipping false gods. In the background on the right, Obadiah can be seen bowing before Elijah as soon as he recognized him. Below the image is a reference in Latin to the biblical text in 1 Kings 18. This print is part of an album.
