About this work

King Rehoboam sent Adoniram, his overseer of the forced labor, to the rebellious Israelites. The people stone Adoniram, who holds his hand on a money bag, which he presumably wanted to use for collecting taxes. In the background King Rehoboam escapes in his carriage to Jerusalem. Below the image a reference in Latin to the Biblical text in 1 Kings 12. This print is part of an album.
