About this work

The unmerciful servant stands in an open room before the king's throne and must give an account of his behavior. His debts had been forgiven by the king, but then he had put another servant in prison because that servant, in turn, owed him something. The king is angry because the servant did not show mercy as he did. On the table cash books and an inkstand. In the foreground a dog. Under the scene a reference in Latin to the Bible text in Matt. 18. The chapter number is incorrectly stated: 3 instead of 18. This print is part of an album.
