About this work

Ten of Joseph's brothers have come to Egypt to buy grain. Joseph, who stands on the right with a scepter in his hand, accuses them of espionage. The brothers try to explain to Joseph, who does not recognize them as their brother, who they are. Joseph lets them go, but demands that they return with their youngest brother Benjamin. In the background a number of brothers stand by the sacks of grain. At the very back they depart with their donkeys. Below the image a reference in Latin to the biblical text in Genesis 42. Print is part of an album.
