About this work

The god of fortune Fukurokujû writes the number 77 on a sheet of paper with a brush. Above and on a stack behind him, New Year decorations, including knotted rope, fern leaves, orange leaves, rice cakes, and river crayfish. The large round rice cakes symbolize infinity. The seventy-seventh birthday is considered very important in Japan.
