About this work

Monogram of Mary MRA, built up from Marian symbols. The M consists of the lily with banner on which Ave Maria gratia plena, the attributes associated with the birth of Christ and his presentation in the temple and a heart, pierced with the 7 swords (7 sorrows of Mary). The R consists of the 'civitas dei', the 'hortus conclusus', the palm tree and other trees. The A consists of the Templum Dei, the Turris Davidica, Porta Caeli, Porta Clausa, the Fons Signatus, Scala Caeli and Stella Maris. Above the R a crown in a wreath of stars, below it the half moon with the snake. The whole in a wreath of fire with the attributes of the four church fathers in the corners.
