About this work
Allegory of strength and weakness. To the right, Strength (Fortitudo): a woman with bare breast, seated facing left, holding a section of a column. Before her, Holofernes with sword and shield. To the right in the background, ruins of ancient buildings. To the left in the background, the tent camp where Holofernes was killed by Judith, who derived her strength from her piety. The print has a Latin, French, and Dutch inscription and is part of a series on the seven virtues.
