Young woman from Lyon in a 'costume à la Piémontoise': dress of silk taffeta, decorated with gathered strips of the same fabric. The coiffure à la Syrienne is a 'Herisson' with ribbon and pearl string, crowned with a feather with a diamond pin. Fichu around the neck, chatelaines at the waist, one with a pocket watch. Further accessories: bracelet, bow at the décolleté, shoes with buckles and heels. According to the caption this fashion originated in 1775 in the theatre of Lyon during the stay of Madame Clotilde of France, Princess of Piedmont, to whom the costume owes its name.
