About this work

Standing woman dressed in a plain white jacket of muslin, trimmed with a ruffled strip of very fine muslin. 'Manches en sabot'. The skirt is made of 'mousseline des Indes' with a striped floral pattern, trimmed with a ruffled strip and lined with colored taffeta. A simple fashionable hat with a ribbon on a 'coëfure à l'enfance'. Accessories: earrings, necklace consisting of two strands with a pendant, bracelets, long gloves, fan, and heeled shoes with bows. Print from the series II. 35th Cahier de Costumes Français, 27th suite d'Habillements à la mode in 1781, Gallerie des Modes et Costumes Français.
