About this work
Standing young woman with a bare bosom, dressed 'à l'Austrasienne' with manches en sabot called à l'Isabelle and a vest à la Péruvienne, over which a shoulder strap. She wears a skirt trimmed with gathered strip and stockings. Accessories: cap with ribbon, bracelets, chatelaine, fan, slippers with rosettes(?). According to the caption, this costume originated in 1778 and was called: ajustement à Jeanne d'Arc. Copy after P 86 from series P. 15e Cahier des Costumes Français, 9e Suite d'Habillemens à la mode en 1778, Gallerie des Modes et Costumes Français.
