About this work

Boy and girl at a birdcage. According to the accompanying text, the girl is dressed in a redingote of cloth. Underneath she wears a bodice of silk and a white skirt of muslin, under which a skirt of blue silk. Accessories: hat with ribbon, shoes with bows. The boy is dressed in a loose-fitting redingote of cloth. Underneath he wears a sailor suit of silk, consisting of a waistcoat and long trousers. Accessories: hat with feather, sash around the waist trimmed with fringes, shoes with bows. On the right hand a bird and in the left hand a flower. The print is part of the 23rd Cahier from Cabinet des Modes ou les Modes Nouvelles. The series consists of 72 fashion prints, published by Buisson, Paris, 15 November 1785 - 1 November 1786.
