About this work

According to the accompanying text, the woman is dressed in a 'robe à la Turque' of striped satin with a train. She wears a fichu, bodice with three-quarter sleeves, pleated collar and double cuffs and a white skirt with a scalloped hem. On her head a "Bonnet à la Turque" by the "demoiselle Roussaud, au coin de la rue du Théatre Francais". Accessories: earrings, bracelet. The print is part of the 24th Cahier from the series Cabinet des Modes ou les Modes Nouvelles. The series consists of 72 fashion prints, published by Buisson, Paris, 15 November 1785 - 1 November 1786.
