About this work

In the upper frame, from left to right: 'coiffure' with ribbons, 'capote' of 'velours épinglé', turban or 'turban Sylphide'. Below three women in a dress of plain velvet, redingote of brocaded silk and dress of satin. The women in the lower frame also wear the headgear from the upper frame. Print from the fashion magazine Townsends Monthly Selection of Parisian Costumes (London 1823-1888).
