About this work
'Merveilleuse', seen from the back, with a velvet hat adorned with ostrich feathers. Underneath, a 'cornette' of tulle. She wears a velvet gown trimmed with fringe at the bottom. Collar with ruffles and a pleated strip with a scalloped hem. The print is a copy of No. 24 from the series 'Incroyables et Merveilleuses', Paris, 1810-1818. (Possibly from Roger-Armand Weigert, 1955).
