About this work
The sea nymph Galatea sits in her shell-shaped vessel and washes her hair. Around her are tritons and nereids. Above her head, a putto holds an arch-shaped drapery, a symbol for Aura, the Roman spirit of the air. To the left, the one-eyed Polyphemus stands on a rock with a pan flute, with which he tried to seduce Galatea. This print is part of an album.
