About this work

Apollo and Diana shoot arrows from a cloud at the children of Niobe to punish her for her arrogance. The seven sons, partly on horseback, and the seven daughters of Niobe lie dead on the ground or are still trying to flee. In the lower margin a three-line explanation of the scene in French.
