About this work

A wealthy young woman and a poorer young man are weighed on a scale by their parents. The side of the scale where the young man sits is pulled down by his mother, but the side with the bride remains heavier. The man is not rich enough for the bride. Cupid, armed with a bow, casts a glance at the full money chest and takes the legs. With an inscription of two four-line verses in Dutch and French.
