About this work

Four scenes on an album sheet from the life of David, numbered 41 to 44. Top left: David and the Gibeonites. David delivers seven descendants of Saul to them to be hanged. Top right: David has the bodies of Saul and Jonathan brought so they could be buried together with the seven hanged. Bottom left: David orders Joab to count the people. Bottom right: the prophet Gad stands before David and offers him a choice of three punishments: seven years of famine, three months fleeing from an enemy, or three days of plague in the land. Also, the destroying angel before Jerusalem. The sheet is part of an album.
