About this work
Two scenes on an album sheet. On the left, the liberation of Peter. Peter sleeps in prison, guarded by four soldiers who have also fallen asleep. Next to Peter, an angel appears, trying to wake him so he can be freed. On the right, Paul and Silas in Philippi. Paul heals a young slave girl who can predict the future. In the background, Paul and Silas are flogged by order of the city magistrates, who were tipped off by the girl's owners. Below both scenes is a two-line Latin inscription. The sheet is part of an album.
