About this work

Jacob secretly returns to Canaan and takes his wives, children, and possessions with him. On the left in the background, Jacob informs his wives Leah and Rachel of their departure. Laban set out in pursuit and searches all the possessions. In the foreground, Jacob and Laban are in conversation. On the right, Rachel sits on the ground in a tent. Her father next to her asks where the teraphim or idol images she stole are hidden (Gen. 31:22). The print is part of an album.
