Solomon's judgment

King Solomon sits on his throne at his palace. He renders a judgment over a dispute between two prostitutes, both of whom had given birth. One child had died and lies on the ground before the king. The living child, claimed by both mothers, is held by a man with a sword. Solomon orders the man to divide the child in two. This goes too far for one of the women; she begs on her knees for the child to live, and Solomon identifies her as the true mother (1 Kings 3:18). Many people watch in the foreground.
