About this work

A flock of sheep. A wolf has caught one. The shepherd runs after it in vain. Above the image a title. Below it six lines of verse and a reference to Ezekiel 34: 'Therefore, shepherds, listen to the words of the Lord ... my sheep had no shepherd, they were stolen and devoured by wild animals; and you, shepherds, did not look after my sheep, you only fed yourselves but not my sheep!' The print is part of an album.
