About this work

Next to a richly decorated coat of arms sits a female personification with the horn of plenty (prosperity) and the caduceus (peace) in her hands. At her feet lies a balance (justice). Next to her stand two putti with a horn filled with money and an olive branch (respectively symbols of prosperity and peace). Behind the female figure stands Mercury, god of trade, with a money bag in his hands. To the left a ship is moored. In the sky the family coat of arms of the Medici is displayed, carried by Fame blowing a trumpet and two putti.
