About this work
On an ornamental pedestal sits Rhea (Cybele) with mural crown and ears of corn in a chariot drawn by two lions. She is flanked by Religion (Religio) with cross and Bible and Government or Politics (Politia) with a book, paper rolls, keys, and a staff. At the bottom, the title on a cartouche on which two birds stand. Sitting there are two household gods, on the left two Penates and on the right two Lares, on both sides of a cartouche with a woman behind a plow drawn by oxen.
