About this work

Father Time with a scythe holds draperies aside, thereby revealing a woman with a mirror, possibly History with a Mirror of Truth. Before the woman is an eagle. Above her a putto with the Ouroboros snake. On the left a group of men and a kneeling angel with a book. In the foreground lie three chained figures.
