About this work
Map of Amsterdam with the design by Daniel Stalpaert for the Fourth Extension (expansion) of the city, in bird's-eye perspective. The new land division is engraved over the old situation, making the map difficult to read. Top left: a view of the new Town Hall on the Dam, below it the legend 1-66. Title at the top center. Top right: a view of the State Naval Magazine (Admiralty Magazine), below it the legend a-z. Bottom center: a view of the city, flanked by the city seal (left) and the city coat of arms (right). Above this a scale bar: 200 Amsterdam feet. Orientation: south-southwest at the top.
