About this work

Part of a frieze on one of the two shoulders in the Vroedschapskamer of the Town Hall on the Dam in Amsterdam. On that frieze, of which this representation is a part, allegorical representations concerning good counsel ('goeden raedt'), i.e., understanding, insight and/or wisdom, are depicted. See RP-P-AO-22-2Q-1 and RP-P-AO-22-2Q-2 for the other parts of the frieze. The representation is explained in the register (RP-P-AO-22-2-2). Numbered in the lower right: 3. Marked in the lower middle: Q.
