About this work

The festive inauguration of the Portuguese Synagogue in Amsterdam on 2 August 1675. On the podium in the center stands the chazan, the cantor, to read from the Torah. In the background the hechal, the ark, in which the Torah scrolls are kept. On the back the cut-off and pasted legend and explanation in French.
