Stage of the Amsterdam Theatre on the Keizersgracht, Amsterdam

View of the stage of the Amsterdam Schouwburg on the Keizersgracht. In the foreground the coats of arms of the theater's administrators, with the coat of arms of Jan Vos to the right of the center. In reality, these shields were not hanging there. This city theater was designed by Jacob van Campen and was built on the site of the Nederduitse Academie of Samuel Coster (at the location of the current Keizersgracht 384). On December 26, 1637, the opening took place. In 1665 the building was extensively renovated and in 1772 it burned down.
