About this work

View of the hall of the Amsterdam Schouwburg during the outbreak of the fire on 11 May 1772. The fire broke out during the performance of the opera 'De Deserteur'. The audience flees in panic. Flames are breaking into the hall on the left. Below the image the title and a four-line verse in Dutch (left) and French (right). Part of a series of four prints with a title print on the fire in the Amsterdam Schouwburg.
