About this work

A house on the Herengracht in Amsterdam where a fire broke out on the night of 25 to 26 April 1683, but which was preserved by timely firefighting with hose pumps. To the left lies the bridge for the Hartenstraat. With a four-line inscription in Dutch and French. Plate 14 in Jan van der Heyden's Firefighting Book.
