About this work
A statue of the goddess Minerva, placed in a niche. Minerva wears a plumed hat and holds a spear and her shield with the Medusa head. Next to her stands an owl as a symbol for wisdom. Also the book and the scientific instruments on the wall refer to this aspect of Minerva's tasks. Under the print a Latin verse.
