The Careless Shoemaker

Warning against irresponsible and frivolous behavior. A carefree cobbler sits in front of his house, indulging in a pint of beer instead of mending his shoes and thus earning a living. His wife scolds him for his negligence, but he seems to pay little attention: "O woman, you quarrel with us too early at a bad hour / We only care that the beer in the pot does not turn sour / Yet, we put it all off from ten to four / I praise our daughter on the hook and she worries not and frowns," we read in the epigram (accompanying text in the album). Two beer jugs hang on the facade of the house.
