About this work
Above in the clouds the naked personification of the evening, Vespera. She holds a cloth in her hands and wears a half-moon on her head. The background of the print shows a landscape with people coming out of church, shepherds returning from the pasture and dancing farmers. The print has a Latin inscription and is part of a four-part series about the four times of the day.
